Brussels hosted conference on "Denial and Democracy in Europe"October 7, 2009 - 20:49 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - The conference on "Denial and Democracy in Europe" took place under the aegis of Elmar Brok, on Tuesday 6 October in the European Parliament, Brussels. The conference aimed at raising awareness on the true nature of Genocides' denials and on the threats they cast on democracy.This conference came in the scope of the adoption of the Framework Decision against Racism & Xenophobia by the European Council of December 2008. The Member States have to transpose the provisions of this Framework Decision in their national legislations in a two years-period. The conference helped disclosing what is really at stake in the struggle against ideologies which ravaged Europe in the past and which are still alive under various forms. The dialectic between denial of genocide, democracy and freedom of expression was particularly highlighted, EАFJD reported.
