ArmMono festival features Egyptian and Israeli performances

PanARMENIAN.Net - For the fist time ever, ArmMono 9th annual international theatre festival will host representatives of Egypt and Israel, festival director Marianna Mkhitaryan told a news conference in Yerevan.

Carmen, the Egyptian performance, participated in a number of international festivals. The performance won theatre prizes in Poland and Oman. Carmen portrays the story of a charwoman, who dreams away, imagining herself as a main character in Bizet’s opera.

Israeli performance, Silly Gimpel, tells a story of a life in Europe before the Holocaust.

ArmMono, held under the auspices of Armenian National Assembly chairman and Ministry of Culture, is scheduled for April 3 to 8 in Yerevan. The first ArmMono fest took place in September 2003.
