Disassembling of damaged site at Nairit plant costs AMD 20 million

PanARMENIAN.Net - Disassembling works started at the chloroprene section of the Nairit chemical plant. The site pulled down on May 14 due to a damage caused by the blast and fire. As the press office of Nairit reports, works carried out by Vargos company are under constant and direct supervision of Nairit's management.

According to preliminary estimations, taking into account high risk of disassembling works of the damaged site they will cost AMD 20 million, Nairit's press office reported.

As it was reported, disassembling works are necessary to eliminate the possibility of new blasts, to neutralize ultimately chemicals subsided on constructions, which are subject to dissembling now, as well as to organize safe and uninterrupted work of investigative agencies and experts at the site of damage.

Comprehensive information on the scope of the damage caused by the accident at the Nairit chemical plant will available only after completion of recovery works, carried out by the proper services at the plant.

Rest technological lines of the plant are operating now and a special schedule will be applied by completion of investigation and the work of professional commission established at the plant.

On May 14 around 6:40 p.m. two explosions occurred at the Nairit plant, producer of chloroprene rubber. Later the fire erupted. 9 fire-brigades and ambulance services arrived at the site within 15 minutes. One absorption tower has burned down as a result of breakage at chloroprene section. Thanks to fire brigade and rescue services the fire was fully extinguished by 11:00. 4 people are dead and 8 injured in the fire.



A professional council was formed at the factory to investigate breakage causes, and the cause of the blast has not been detected yet.
