Increase of number of tourists in Armenia indicates competitivenessJune 18, 2009 - 12:22 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - Increase of the number of tourists arriving in Armenia indicates competitiveness of the industry in Armenia, Deputy Minister of Economy Vahe Danielyan said Thursday during the 3rd Tourism Competitiveness in Armenia forum which kicked off in Yerevan on June 18."Under the crisis, the flow of tourists in Armenia is growing. It means that these people prefer more affordable travel packages," he said, adding that Armenia is an attractive country with rich cultural heritage and nature. "If I had time I would spend my vacation in Armenia. It's cheaper than abroad," he said. Meanwhile, he remarked that not all segments of Armenian tourism are competitive. "The National Statistical Service should examine the industry and reveal its most attractive sectors. Tourism Competitiveness in Armenia forum is aimed to promote the development of tourism cluster, afford opportunities for cooperation, provide online information on the present situation to the interested parties and assist the resolution of problems.
