SCR director raises questions of railway safety in Shirak regionDecember 2, 2009 - 18:08 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - Shevket Shajdullin, Director General of "South Caucasus Railways" on December 2 visited the Shirak region of Armenia, press office of the company reports. During the visit, he met with the Governor of the Shirak region Lida Nanyan and Gyumri Mayor Vardan Ghukasyan. Social issues, problem of operational safety of the railway, availability of unauthorized crossings have been touched upon during the meeting. Particular attention was paid to families living at the facilities of the railway since the early 90's. Concession contract between the South Caucasus Railways and the Government of Armenia does not provide accommodation at railway facilities. The parties came to a mutual understanding of the problem. The head of SCR Shevket Shaydullin and the Governor of the Shirak region Lida Nanyan traveled to the Akhuryan border station. During the visit Lida Nanyan highly praised restoration works carried out at the railway station Gyumri-Ahuryan.
