Armenia expects to receive $25mln from Millennium Challenge Corporation for third quarter of 2010June 10, 2010 - 17:47 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - The Armenian government hosted a sitting of the Governing Council of Millennium Challenge Account – Armenia (MCAA) led by Prime Minister, Chairman of the Council Tigran Sargsyan. The Council approved the 16th application for appropriation, which will be submitted to the Millennium Challenge Corporation, the RA government’s press service reported. According to the application, the MCAA expects to receive $25mln for the third quarter of 2010 (July-September.) The sum will be mostly directed to implementation of works under Irrigated Agriculture subprogram, while the rest will be allocated for the monitoring, evaluation and management of the program, as well as control over its implementation. Besides, the Council decided to cut the sum to be paid to Hayjrnakhagits organization by 15% due to shortages in projects prepared as part of the agreement on designing six main channels under Irrigated Agriculture subprogram. The Council also discussed and approved the project on introduction of amendments to the agreement offered by the organization implementing technical control over construction works. In addition, the Council debated the program of MCAA on prevention, revelation and liquidation of forgery and corruption, as well as authorized Armenian Minister of Economy Nerses Yeritsyan to approve composition of the committee on prevention, revelation and liquidation of forgery and corruption.
