Crisis has revealed necessity of introduction of risk management fundamentals in Armenia

PanARMENIAN.Net - Co-founder of Ayb club and educational foundation Arthur Berd said that Armenia was lucky that the crisis has not considerably affected the country. However, from the other side, it has affected enough, so that the country starts considering introduction of risk management fundamentals, Berd told journalists in Yerevan.

He added that their introduction should proceed in compliance with the local peculiarities, i.e. it is necessary to understand which risks are important for Armenia and manage right them.

Arthur Berd noted that the culture of risk management is not developed in Armenian companies, while commercial banks display a good approach.

On June 23, Arthur Berd delivered a master class on Risky Business; How to Recognize, Measure and Manage Risk in Finance, Business and Life at the American University of Armenia.

Arthur Berd lives in Paris, he manages the macro-option strategies at Capital Fund Management, Inc. (CFM), a leading hedging fund in the world in the systematic investment strategies. In recent years, Arthur Berd held senior positions in such companies as BlueMountain Capital Management, Lehman Brothers and Goldman Sachs Asset Management.
