WTO: global trade to expand over 10% in 2010

PanARMENIAN.Net - Pascal Lamy, director-general of the World Trade Organization, said that global trade, in volume terms, is expected to grow more than 10% this year.

The forecast is up from an estimate of 9.5% in March.

"It will probably pick up 10 to 10-plus percent this year depending on what happens in the second half of the year," Lamy said speaking at the UN pavilion at the Shanghai World Expo, Reuters reported.

Earlier, the International Monetary Fund predicted 5.8% growth in global trade in 2010.

According to updated statistical data, Armenia's foreign trade turnover totaled $2.1bln in January-June 2010 that is 29.8% higher as compared with the same period of last year.
