Iran offers Armenia to establish consortium on railroad and highway construction

PanARMENIAN.Net - Iranian Deputy Minister of Roads and Transportation Reza Pilpaye met with Armenian Ambassador to Iran Grigor Arakelyan.

Pilpaye said that Iranian companies are ready to implement projects on construction of railroads and highways in Armenia, thus connecting Armenia’s railway network with that of Iran.

The Deputy Minister noted that it is necessary to establish a consortium for soonest implementation of railroad and highway projects, while the issue on such cooperation between the two states can be discussed during the upcoming sitting of the Armenian-Iranian commission on trade and economic cooperation.

For his part, Arakelyan expressed hope for expansion of cooperation between Armenia and Iran and agreed with the necessity to establish a joint consortium.

Arakelyan referred to the project on construction of a highway from the Iranian border to the Georgian border. In case of its construction, vehicles will be safely traveling via Armenia’s territory, IRNA reported.
