Armenian SCPEC launches tomatoes market monitoring May 10, 2011 - 12:47 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - The Armenian State Commission for the Protection of Economic Competition (SCPEC) has launched monitoring of the tomatoes market, General Advisor to SCPEC Chairman said. The Commission requested state structures to provide relevant information, Aram Sahakyan told a news conference in Yerevan. Specifically, State Revenue Committee will be requested to provide information on importers and local manufacturers of tomatoes. As it was revolved earlier, the Armenian State Commission for the Protection of Economic Competition (SCPEC) will study the unequal conditions established between local companies dealing with hothouses and importers of glass-grown vegetables, specifically, tomatoes from Turkey. Armenian entrepreneurs are displeased with the fact that tomatoes imported from Turkey are sold at a lower price, what hampers local production, the SCPEC press service reported. On May 6, it was decided to thoroughly study the activity of vegetable importers from Turkey with respect to possible violation of the RA Law on Protection of Economic Competition.
