30 Wikipedia guides translated into Armenian during HackathonApril 5, 2011 - 13:45 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - On April 3, the ESPACES center hosted an 8-hour Hackathon in scope of Wikipedia Schools and Universities Project during which 30 Wikipedia guides were translated into Armenian. “About 40 people participated in Hackathon and we now have 30 translated guides which will be edited by the Armenian Wiki community,” the event participant and Armenian Wikipedia administrator Aleksey Chalabyan told a PanARMENIAN.Net rsquo;s reporter. According to Chalabyan, as each country’s Wikipedia has its own approaches and principles, the Armenian Wiki community should discuss the guides translated from English to decide on their further publication in Armenian. The aim of Hackathons is to gather people to develop and make better some things. The name of event Hackathon comes from words “Marathon" and "hacking". First time Hackathon held in Calgary city, Canada, in 1999.
