Dick Advocaat to rejoin PSV Eindhoven

PanARMENIAN.Net - Russia coach Dick Advocaat has agreed to rejoin his old club PSV Eindhoven after Euro 2012, he was quoted as telling Dutch daily Voetbal International, RIA Novosti reported.

The Dutchman announced on Monday, April 30 that he would step down as Russia coach after the tournament but added "I can’t tell you the reason yet," in comments to the Sport-Express newspaper.

Late Advocaat was reported as saying that he made the decision after receiving an offer from PSV, where won the Dutch title in 1996 during a three-year stint.

"A few weeks ago I was asked if I am open to an offer from PSV," Advocaat was quoted as saying by the Dutch newspaper. "I responded positively. Orally we have already agreed everything. I think, this week we'll have it on paper as well."

In March, PSV coach Fred Rutten was sacked after big defeats from Twente and Breda in the Dutch Eredivise, and Valencia in the last 16 of the Europa League.

Former Barcelona midfielder Phillip Cocu stepped in as acting manager until the end of the season.

Advocaat took the Russia job from fellow Dutch coach Guus Hiddink in May 2010 on a two-year deal with an option for a further two years.

He took Russia to the top of their qualifying group for Euro 2012, where the team faces co-host Poland, the Czech Republic and Greece.
