Ukraine’s NGOs urge president to mark Genocide Commemoration Day

PanARMENIAN.Net - Ukraine’s Union of Social Organizations “Narodna Rada” calls on the country’s president to announce April 24 as Armenian Genocide Commemoration Day in Ukraine.

The move followed the address to Ukraine’s leadership issued at April 13 Kyiv-hosted round table discussions entitled “Armenian Genocide: Impunity Begets Recurrence,” the president of Civil Union international NGO Armen Martirosyan said.

The address, signed by “Narodna Rada” board chair Nadezhda Lukashevich, stresses the 1915 Genocide as a historically proven fact. “Only through recognition and condemnation of the Genocide can we prevent recurrence of crimes against humanity. Such atrocities must never be repeated,” the address said, according to Analitika.at.ua.
