Most senior MP must host 1st parliament sitting – paper

PanARMENIAN.Net - According to Haykakan Zhamanak daily, the first sitting of the new Armenian parliament must be hosted by the most senior MP.

The source is certain that the one to be given the privilege will be a member of the Republican Party of Armenia elected through the proportional system, most probably the 82-year-old Murad Muradyan (42nd in RPA proportional list).

The next senior candidate is the president of the National Academy of Sciences, 76-year-old Radik Martirosyan (52nd in RPA proportional list).

Should Muradyan and Martirosyan renounce their deputy mandates, the right to host the 1st sitting may be passed on to the leader of Christian Democratic Union Khosrov Harutyunyan or the head of RPA parliamentary group Galust Sahakyan, both 64, the daily said.
