AZERI PARTY DISSATISFIED WITH OSCE LEADER STAND ON KARABAKH CONFLICT

PanARMENIAN.Net - The Azeri delegation is indignant at the OSCE Chairman-in-Office Solomon Passy not reflecting "the fact of seizure of Azeri territories by Armenia" in his report. It should be noted that S. Passy addressed the recurrent OSCE PA session in the Scottish capital of Edinburgh July 6, making a report on his activities as the OSCE leader. As member of the delegation of Azerbaijan, deputy Sattar Safarov told ANS Azeri TV channel, S. Passy's report merely accentuated that the Nagorno Karabakh conflict has to be solved by means of parties' efforts and via mutual compromises. After the hearing of the report the Azeri delegates expressed protest, noting that if the problem is to be solved by the parties to conflict, then "which is the role of the OSCE Minsk Group and the OSCE Chairman-in-Office?" The Azeri party reproached S. Passy that while being the OSCE head he did not take any concrete steps against "Armenia's aggressive policy." A wrangle between S. Passy and the Azeri parliamentarians occurred. In Sattar Safarov's words, the Azeri delegates nevertheless managed to attain making changes referring to "ethnic separatism" during the sitting of the OSCE PA Political Council. The proposals were supported by the delegations of Georgia and Turkey.
