5th Karen Asryan Memorial kicks off in Jermuk

PanARMENIAN.Net - 5th Karen Asryan Memorial is ongoing in Armenia’s town of Jermuk on June 16-24, with 60 chess players participating in the tournament.

Four players scored 2 points each to share 1-4 places after the first two rounds. David Shahinyan comes first with additional results, followed by Georgia’s Davit Lomsadze and Suren Poghosyan.

Karen Asryan, the Armenian grandmaster, 2006 chess Olympian, died at the age of 28 in 2008. The Chess Giants tournament, which was stopped over his death, was later named after him.
