Baku will continue border attacks as method of blackmail– expert

PanARMENIAN.Net - Shelling and attacks at the contact line will continue until Azerbaijan realizes the kernel, Caucasus Institute director said.

Alexander Iskandaryan dubbed the border incidents as method of Azeri blackmail.

“Even Azeri Foreign Minister Elmar Mammadyarov accepted that Karabakh status quo would become conceivable to all if the shelling discontinues,” the political analyst said.

The expert stressed war rhetoric and contact line attacks as the two methods of Azeri blackmail.

According to Mr. Iskandaryan, Azerbaijan has no intention to wage war.

“Risks are great, with no rational needs. Whereas, the country possesses the rational needs and takes no big risks, continuing the attacks,” he said.

The political analyst stressed the mediators’ inability to exert pressure on Baku, considering Azerbaijan’s oil reserves, its role in transportation of energy resources and the Iranian issue.
