SETTLEMENT OF KARABAKH CONFLICT, SOLVING PROBLEM KERNEL, ACCEPTABLE FOR ARMENIA

PanARMENIAN.Net - "The most important issue for Armenia now is to determine the status of Nagorno Karabakh", Armenian Foreign Minister Vardan Oskanian stated. In his words, "the Armenian party can accept the settlement option, which will first of all solve the kernel of the problem - the issue of the Nagorno Karabakh status, as all other questions are its consequences". "Today's tactics pursued by the OSCE Minsk Group co-chairs lies in the fact that the contacts available in the highest level should reveal prospects, on the basis of which new proposals could be made, thus serving as a basis for future negotiations", Oskanian said. "Armenia has always confirmed its adherence to the peaceful settlement of the problem and occupied the constructive position with respect to the proposals made by the Minsk Group co-chairs. It's quite another matter when the proposals overlooking the major issue are directed to solve the problems, which are derivatives only. It is clear that we cannot accept such a solution," Armenian MFA head stated. When touching upon Russia's position in the settlement process V. Oskanian said it is "balanced and pragmatic".
