FOOTBALL IS NOT A BATTLEFIELD, BUT ONE SHOULD NOT LOSE EVEN IN THE FOOTBALL FIELD

PanARMENIAN.Net - Yesterday Baku Neftchi whitewashed Yerevan Pyunik 2:0. "The game finished 2 0. Exactly the same quantity of occupied territories Armenians will return after our victory," Day.az Azeri portal commented on the news. Of course one can cite a large number of objective reasons why Armenian football players lost the game: Neftchi had another odd day, again Georgian legionaries, etc. Of course football is not a battlefield and one can be at least surprised by the comments that bind the victory in the football field with the military one. Of course one has to be able to lose and we congratulate Neftchi football players, as they have deserved the victory. However, the main reason of the defeat seems to be psychological. The game was initially "a matter of life and death" for the Azeris, while at ours even not everyone knew about the game. They had to win without fail and then they became heroes. For us the Pyunik-Neftchi meeting was something like a curious thing, fun. We were ashamed to lose and we did not like it, but it was not fundamentally important for us to win. Our guys would not become heroes of the country if they had defeated Baku. We know little about what is Armeniaphobia in the neighboring country. Who are Armenians for the young generation of Azeris. We consider it all a sign of their "Asian backwardness and fanaticism". We look down on their childish amusement as if with lordly indolence. But we should be more attentive and careful with this "amusement." Thank God, football is not a battlefield. But we should not lose in anything or anywhere.
