NOMINATION OF CANDIDATES TO ARMENIAN PARLIAMENT STARTEDMarch 11, 2003 - 18:01 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - March 11-16 candidates will be nominated for deputies of the National Assembly of Armenia to be elected May 25. Any citizen of the republic over 25, who has lived in Armenia for the recent 5 years, can be elected as a deputy. According to the Electoral Code of Armenia, 75 out of the 131 deputies of the parliament are to be elected in compliance with the proportional system, i.e. via party lists, and 56 - with the majority system, i.e. individual districts. The registration of candidates for deputies will begin April 15. The electoral agitation will be held from April 21 to May 23. As chairman of the central electoral commission of Armenia Artak Sahradian told "Arka" agency, the term of office of the incumbent National Assembly convocation expires May 30.
