Mexican parliament supports peoples’ right to self-determinationOctober 24, 2012 - 16:14 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - Armenian Foreign Minister Edward Nalbandian met with the first vice-president of Mexico’s Chamber of Deputies Francisco Arroyo Vieyra. Minister Nalbandian noted that the statement adopted by the previous convocation of the Chamber of Deputies distorts the nature of Nagorno Karabakh issue, undermines bilateral relations and runs counter to OSCE Minsk Group’s position. “The statement hampers the conflict settlement efforts and poses threat to regional stability,” he said. The Mexican official, in turn, said that the Chamber of Deputies supports the right of nations to self-determination, noting that the attempts to attribute other stance to the parliament are not true to fact. Minister Nalbandian voiced hope that the newly-elected Mexican parliament will take effective steps to develop relations with Armenia, stressing the intention to set up a friendship group in RA National Assembly and Mexican parliament. For his part, Vieyra noted future establishment of a parliamentary friendship group as a significant format of bilateral cooperation. Top stories Six total incidents have burned 19 old-growth trees.
