New penitentiary for 400 prisoners to be constructed in Armenia

PanARMENIAN.Net - On November 1, Armenian government resolved to allocate AMD 500 mln to the Justice Ministry.

As Armenian Justice Minister Hrayr Tovmasyan noted, the funds will be aimed at the construction works of a prison building for 400 jailers, adjacent to “Armavir” penitentiary, with the building to be put to operation in 2013 second half.

Armenian Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan, in turn, noted the project will help avoid additional expenses.

After the completion of the construction works, the U.S. partners pledged to offer technical assistance for purchase of relevant equipment.
