NKR PM links Stepanakert airport flight delay to security system

PanARMENIAN.Net - Nagorno Karabakh Prime Minister Ara Harutyunyan linked the delay of the first flight from Stepanakert airport to the lack of the modern air security systems, with all the demands of international aviation institutions considered, karabakh-open.info reported.

“Initially we were set to choose between building a Soviet era airport and constructing an infrastructure in line with modern aviation requirements and security principles. We chose the second option, with new problems arising during implementation of each stage,” Harutyunyan said, briefing on the steps aiming to restore the air communication.

“The runaway is built in a way to neutralize the possible danger from Azerbaijan, with our air defense system to ensure additional protection,” he said. “Purchase of modern security systems is currently being negotiated.”
