Expert deems Susan Rice possible candidate for Secretary of State

PanARMENIAN.Net - Susan Rice has been viewed as a possible candidate for the U.S. foreign office, Prof. Valery Garbuzov, Deputy Director of the Institute of the U.S. and Canada said.

“Many analysts believe that Susan Rice will be appointed new Secretary of State. She’s well-known and her stand is equally pronounced. In any case, the candidate will be a person with a clear idea of national interests and a knack to defend them. I think Ms. Rice fits in quite nicely. Moreover, there’s been a tendency of appointing women as Secretaries of State, a trend that is sure to factor in when Obama will be considering the new Cabinet lineup,” Voice of Russia quoted Garbuzo as saying.

President Barack Obama won re-election Tuesday, November 7 in a closely fought race, overcoming the doubts of a nation ravaged by a prolonged economic downturn and setting up a test of whether he can forge a productive second term in a divided political system.

In retaining the presidency, Mr. Obama, 51 years old, defeated former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney, 65, who had been seeking the office for six years.
