WORD «EUROPE» TAKEN AS EXCLUSIVE MODEL OF COMMUNITY OF STATES

PanARMENIAN.Net - The word «Europe» has stopped being merely the name of a mainland, it has become a political term that is more taken as a new exclusive model of a community of states, and a European - as a member of that community, Armenian President Robert Kocharian stated, when addressing the Council of Europe summit. In his words, the terms «Western» and «Eastern» Europe have transformed from political ones into geographic. Moreover, the institutional definition and the psychological adaptation of that structure go hand in hand, apparently, owing to the progress of information technologies. «Europe changes and it undoubtedly should become a topic for discussion to search for respective means of reform of the European structures and institutions,» stated Robert Kocharian. In the Armenian President's words, the process of reform proceeds with a speed that that it comprises the period of life of a generation. «Sometimes it seems to me that the process has its internal logic and does not depend on the political logic so much,» noted Robert Kocharian. In his words, all it raises and makes sensible some questions that demand an answer, specifically whether the European integration processes have geographic and cultural limits and where are these, which impact the future process of expansion and institutionalization of the CoE will have on the role of other organizations, including the EU. «It is clear that this club is no less attractive for the EU members,» stated R. Kocharian. «How should Europe's relations with the rest of the world that has other perceptions and traditions be built,» the President emphasized. In his statement he thanked the Polish President for organizing the summit. R. Kocharian said he was sure that the summit of the leaders of the CoE member states is opportune.
