BAKU DOES NOT CONSIDER TURKISH-GEORGIAN-AZERI MILITARY BLOC NECESSARY

PanARMENIAN.Net - The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan does not have information over the plans of creation of a military bloc between Azerbaijan, Georgia and Turkey. «If there are such plans, the decision over the creation of such a bloc is passed by the political leadership,» a representative of the Press Service of the Defense Ministry stated when commenting on the respective reports, spread by Russian media, reported the 525 Baku newspaper. Political scientists consider the opportunity of forming a triple military bloc with participation of Azerbaijan, Georgia and Turkey unrealistic. «Such a bloc does not have prospects and it is invention to all appearance,» stated former State Advisor on Foreign Political Issues of Azerbaijan Vafa Guluzade when commenting the respective reports. In his opinion, no one needs a bloc like that. «There is no need to form a military bloc to protect the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan oil pipeline. The pipeline will be secured with the support of the US and there is no need in forming such a bloc,» said V. Guluzade. Former Foreign Minister of Azerbaijan Tofik Zulfugarov agrees with him in a certain sense. «Judging from what we know, Azerbaijan, Georgia and Tbilisi will coordinate efforts to secure the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan,» the political scientist said. He did not rule out the opportunity that the Armenian party is the primary source of the reports that the formation of a military bloc is under way. Political scientist Rasim Musabekov holds an almost the same opinion, He reminded that there is an agreement between Azerbaijan, Georgia and Turkey on interaction of the respective structures of the three countries to secure the oil pipeline. At the same time he did not rule out that in case of need a bloc with the participation of those countries can be formed. «However, posing the current situation as a military bloc is exaggeration,» R. Musabekov summed up.
