ARIF YUNUSOV: TOO EARLY SPEAK OF ARMISTICE IN KARABAKH CONFLICT

PanARMENIAN.Net - "The cease-fire at the Azerbaijani and Karabakh contact line will be constantly violated until Azerbaijan liberates its lands of "occupation", head of the department of Conflictology of the Institute of Peace and Democracy Arif Yunusov stated, 525 Azeri newspaper reports. In his words, no one can prevent it. Azerbaijani officials and representatives of international organizations have reiterated it. They are well aware that light weapons are used to violate the cease-fire and no battles take place. In his words, Armenia does not dare to undertake serious operations over the fear to find itself in a deplorable situation. According to him, "ordinary Armenians are against the incumbent leadership, since they understand that the war will not end in Armenia's favor. Due to this very reason the number of opponents to President Robert Kocharian is increasing". He also noted that the conclusion of a peaceful agreement is impossible while Kocharian is at power, as he is not ready for a compromise. The Armenian leadership is pressing Azerbaijan for compromise. However in this case Azerbaijan will lose Karabakh. This variant will be accepted neither by the government nor by the people of Azerbaijan, he said. In his words, it is too early to speak of armistice in the present situation.
