Poll results for Armenian presidential elections released

PanARMENIAN.Net - On Dec 5-16, Armenian Sociological Association jointly with the Gallup Organization conducted a public opinion poll on the upcoming presidential elections.

1020 adult residents of Armenia participated in the poll, with the results publicly presented today, Dec 20.

According to Gallup representative Dr. Rasa Alisauskiene, Armenian voters show high interest in the forthcoming presidential elections, with 49 % of respondents voicing readiness to cast their votes for the incumbent president Serzh Sargsyan, 21 % - for Prosperous Armenia leader Gagik Tsarukyan, 6% - for Armenian National Congress (ANC) opposition bloc leader Levon Ter-Petrossian, 5% for former Armenian president Robert Kocharian and Heritage leader Raffi Hovannissian.

The same institutions will conduct a similar survey in January and on the threshold of the elections. According to Armenian Sociological Association chairman Gevorg Poghosyan, 65 % of the population will participate in the polls.

The public opinion poll was initiated and sponsored by ArmNews media company.
