NO CAN DEPRIVE KARABAKH OF INDEPENDENCE

PanARMENIAN.Net - Festivities dedicated to the 14-th anniversary of the declaration of the republic are held Nagorno Karabakh on September 2. On this occasion NKR President Arkady Ghukasian addressed the people with a congratulation message. It says, "We are celebrating our holiday in the conditions of cease-fire allowing us to form free and independent Artsakh with the will of people who chose the path of democracy. Though the Nagorno Karabakh Republic has not received international recognition yet, our state proved that it has not only formed de-facto but also leaves behind its neighbors by meeting the requirements of the European community. It can be proved bythe parliamentary elections, which received high estimate of the international observers. The people of Artsakh unlike those in Azerbaijan have never been given lessons of democracy. However no single election in Azerbaijan met the standards of a democratic society. Today Azerbaijan is not able to defend the rights of the citizens not mentioning of the national minorities leaving there. This is enough for the progressive international community to recognize the right of Karabkah to be an independent state, since this is the reality the world and Azerbaijan as well has to consider. It is not accidental that the Azeri authorities try to conceal the democratic progress of Karabakh from the Azeri people. However, such behavior has no future. Moreover it questions the possibility of settling the conflict via civilized methods on the basis of reasonable compromise. I assure you that the NKR leadership adheres to the peaceful settlement of the conflict and our people can be sure that no one will deprive Karabakh of independence gained at the price of irreplaceable losses. The Karabakh Defense Army is able to repulse any force that dare to infringe upon our homeland. But we still have to strengthen our defense and speed up the economical, cultural and social development. We should in corpore enable our riches - the spiritual and mental potential of the Karabakh people, their diligence and professionalism, we should augment the cultural heritage of Artsakh. The successful fulfillment of these tasks is unthinkable without further democratization of the public and political life of the Karabakh Republic. The formation of the Karabakh state system would be impossible without the support rendered by Armenia and Diaspora. However there still remains unused potential of the Armenia-Diaspora-Karabakh triangle. And we still have to work in this direction. On this day each of us should feel responsible for the future of Artsakh. Certainly we have plenty of unsettled problems. But we can overcome the hardships with joint efforts, mutual trust and attention towards each citizen of Artsakh. I congratulate you on this holiday and wish you all the best.
