ARMENIA PERMANENT REPRESENTATIVE TO WTO PRESENTED CREDENTIALS TO ORGANIZATION SEC. GEN.

PanARMENIAN.Net - September 22 Armenian Minister of Trade and Economic Development Karen Chshmarityan met with World Trade Organization Director General Pascal Lamy, reported the Press Service of the Ministry of Trade and Economic Development. Karen Chshmarityan and delegation members congratulated Pascal Lamy with election for the office and handed him a congratulatory message from the Armenian President. In the course of the meeting credentials of Armenia's Permanent Representative to the WTO were presented to Pascal Lamy. The parties expressed confidence that Armenia's activities within the WTO will acquire new quality with the appointment of Armenia's Permanent Representative to the Organization. The parties noted that the importance of the 6th assembly at the level of ministers to be held in Hong Kong in December and the further course of the negotiation process. In the course of the meeting the parties agreed to organize a seminar consultation for the private sector of Armenia within the WTO Training and Technical Program. Matters referring to accession of other countries to the WTO were also discussed. The parties were unite it was necessary to enhance the WTO role and strengthen cooperation with other international trade organizations. September 19-22 Karen Chshmarityan also took part in the sittings of Committees of Agriculture and Services held within the WTO negotiation process.
