Armenian parliament speaker visits Heritage leader

PanARMENIAN.Net - Armenian parliament speaker Hovik Abrahamyan visited Heritage leader, former presidential candidate Raffi Hovannisian, who went on hunger strike on March 10.

Hovannisian refused to unveil details of the discussion, expressing readiness to answer the questions during March 18 press conference.

Abrahamyan, in turn, noted that possible solutions to the current situation were discussed.

“We didn’t come to an agreement; however, I think we will meet again. I don’t deem such a format a solution to the problem,” parliament speaker said, stressing the need for resolving the economic, political and social issues, raised in Liberty Square.

He further said that the country’s authorities are also concerned about the exiting problems and will do the utmost to offer an effective solution to them.

Asked if reelected president Serzh Sargsayn will visit Mr Hovannisian, the speaker said he “didn’t know anything.”

“I don’t have specific proposals. We will discuss and propose relevant options,” Abrahamyan said, slamming the offers to hold second round of presidential election or dissolve the parliament as unreasonable.
