Hovannisian denies President Sargsyan’s statements

PanARMENIAN.Net - Heritage party leader, former presidential candidate Raffi Hovannisian slammed President Serzh Sargsyan’s remarks on their meeting as false.

“Serzh Sargsyan stole the victory from the Armenian people. He will come to the Liberty Square after 100 000 supporters join us,” Heritage leader said, condemning “celebration of victory following rigged elections and widespread violations.”

“We both are responsible for our words. I met Serzh Sargsyan a few days after the rigged elections. I offer to open the ballot boxes to reveal the true picture. Let’s assume we all represent segments of our unified nation, let’s discuss the solutions we must offer to the handle the current situation,” Hovannisian said, urging for transparent negotiations.

“My involvement in any of government operations has never been discussed with Serzh Sargsyan. I told him I respect his decision to reject my offer. Nothing is included in the agenda now. I must now divulge the offers I made as a candidate, the offers that were refused. I urged for a public meeting, however an impression was created that I urged for a close-door reception.

No agreement envisaging communication by written notes was reached at our meeting. Instead, I said my offers were rejected. I invited Serzh Sargsyan to the Liberty Square, however, he noted my offer as inappropriate. I even expressed readiness to meet him in any state building, which never occurred,” the ex-candidate said.
