Italy Important Partner of Armenia within European Neighborhood Policy

PanARMENIAN.Net - Today Armenian Deputy FM Armen Bayburdyan met with Plenipotentiary Minister, Senior Representative of the Italian MFA Department for Development of Cooperation Eugenio Campo and Principal Specialist Francesco Cantone, reported the Press Service of the Armenian MFA. The Italian delegation is in Armenia on a two-day visit within the framework of Italian International Cooperation. Italian Ambassador to Armenia Marco Clemente accompanied the delegation. During the meeting it was noted that the cooperation between Armenia and Italy got a new impulse after the Spitak earthquake in 1988. After declaring independence many-sided cooperation was launched and it registered especially notable development dynamics recently. In Bayburdyan's words, Armenian-Italian relations develop both at the bilateral level and within the European Neighborhood policy. Italy is an important partner of Armenia within the European Neighborhood policy, he said. According to the parties the bilateral cooperation is transferring from humanitarian stage to development programs, of which the current visit is evidence. The Italian delegation discusses specific health, agricultural and scientific research programs with their Armenian colleagues.
