USAID to Further Develop Cooperation with Armenian Parliament

PanARMENIAN.Net - "Armenia chose the way of development of market economy and democratization 15 years ago. USAID decided to promote selection of priority programs for Armenia," stated USAID Mission to Armenia Director Robin Phillips during Prospects of Development of Parliament and Parliamentarism in Democracy international forum opened in the Armenian capital. In his words, the USAID has been cooperating with the Armenian Parliament for a long time. The cooperation aspects specifically include institutionalizing civil society, lobby in parliament, analysis of legislative process, control over the executive. "We further intend to develop our cooperation," Robin Phillips stated, adding the cooperation would not have been possible without good will of the Armenian Parliament.



SecGen of the Council of CIS Interparliamentary Assembly Mikhail Krotov and BSEC PA representative, Georgian Vice-Speaker Mikhail Machavariani also made welcoming and congratulation speeches. It should be noted that events marking the 15th anniversary of the National Assembly of Armenia are held in Yerevan on these days, reported IA Regnum.
