Nalbandian says will play Davis Cup doubles after surgery

PanARMENIAN.Net - Former World No. 3 has undergone double surgery, on his right shoulder and right hip, David Nalbandian’s official fan blog said, citing La Nacion.

Nalbandian spent over 6 hours in operating room in Barcelona.

“Together with my team, I'm going to work very hard on getting back in time to play the Davis Cup doubles against the Czech Republic,” the player was quoted as saying.

The match is due September 13-15.

Commenting on whether Nalbandian’s participation will be possible, Javier Maquirriain, doctor of the Argentine Davis Cup team said, “Generally speaking, recovery from a SLAP lesion takes between three and six months, depending on the patient. The same goes for the hip. It's an injury that happens a bit more often these days but it's also diagnosed earlier so the prognoses are more favorable.”
