Lithuania Urges to Draw Plans of Democracy Development in South CaucasusDecember 13, 2005 - 17:18 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - Lithuanian FM Antanas Valionis urged the EU to draw plans of development of democracy in the South Caucasus as soon as possible. The Minister stated it Monday on the meeting Council on Common and Foreign Affairs in Brussels. According to the Lithuanian MFA press release, Valionis welcomed EU active efforts to assist Moldova and approved EU Commissioner Bennita Ferrero Waldner's proposal that the EU should provide adequate financial assistance, necessary to implement the Action Plan within the European Neighborhood Policy. Speaking of the future financial tool of the European Neighborhood Policy the Lithuanian Minister suggested providing assistance to those countries, which do not have Action Plans. Valionis also drew attention to the fact that the term of the agreements on partnership and cooperation in development of democracy and civil society with most neighbor countries is expiring in 2007. "Within that context we have to seriously review the neighborhood policy again," Valionis emphasized, reported Rosbalt.
