Ghukasian Doesn't Think Kocharian Aliyev Meeting in Paris Crucial
Nagorno Karabakh President Arkady Ghukasian does not rule out that certain progress will be fixed during the upcoming meeting of the Armenian and Azerbaijani Presidents in Paris. Upon completion of the meeting with OSCE Chairman-in-Office Karel De Gucht, who is in Yerevan on a formal call, the NKR head told journalists that the continuation of the talks is of utmost importance, since the one holding talks in always right. "From this viewpoint I welcome any meetings of the Armenian and Azeri leaders. Although I do not think this meeting will be crucial I do not exclude that agreement might be reached on some points," Arkady Ghukasian stressed.

In his words, "we all wish peaceful settlement, since it has only one alternative - war, the most terribly thing that can happen. At that the NKR head pointed out to the necessity of soonest engagement of Karabakh in the negotiation process. "I have a formula that has always proved right. When Azerbaijan is holding talks with Armenia and refuses from dialogue with NKR it is clear that it pursues one goal - to present Armenia as an aggressor. As soon as Baku launches negotiations with Karabakh it will become obvious that it really tries to abandon propaganda and proceed to the settlement of the conflict. If Azerbaijan really wishes to settle the issue it should hurry to establish dialogue with NKR," Arkady Ghukasian said. Of course the meetings with the OSCE CiO and the OSCE MG Co-Chairs are important that they cannot replace direct talks between the parties, Ghukasian noted. In his words, this position was approved by the OSCE CiO, reported IA Regnum.
