RA MFA Hopeful for Advance at Kocharian-Aliyev Meeting

PanARMENIAN.Net - The purpose of the short-term visit of the OSCE Minsk Group Co-chairs to the region is to get familiarized with the mood of the parties before the presidential meeting in Paris, Armenian Foreign Ministry's Spokesman Hamlet Gasparian stated. In his words, the Armenian party is leaving for Paris with positive spirits. "Undoubtedly a great deal of work targeted at reconciliation of the parties and achievement of an agreement on a number of issues was done within the Prague process. However there are still complicated issues Yerevan and Baku disagree on, what makes us be prudent in expectations. Nevertheless, we are hopeful that the Presidents will manage to make a step forward," Hamlet Gasparian said. In his words, it would be advisable if the year of 2006 became the year of the Nagorno Karabakh conflict settlement. "The OSCE Minsk Group Co-chairs, the parties to conflict and the international community have put forth effort in this direction. Moreover both peoples and the whole region will benefit from the agreement. Armenia demonstrates will and desire to find the solution of the problem but the hard-edged statements by the Azeri party make us be extremely cautious. Anyway, let us wait for the outcomes of the Parisian meeting of the Presidents," the RA MFA Spokesman said.
