According to the report, last year, an underground parking garage was opened under Azadliq Square, current venue for the parade. At present, urgent reconstruction works are in progress to cover up land subsidence and cracks which appeared as a result of grave engineering mistakes. However, experts say, the cover-up will only hide the cracks rather than deal with the reason that caused them. As they note, the parade involving heavy military equipment may prove fatal, with the square likely to collapse under the weight. ![]() ![]() Azerbaijani authorities report that they have already resettled 3,000 people in the Nagorno-Karabakh town of Stepanakert.
