Another elderly Armenian woman attacked in Istanbul

PanARMENIAN.Net - An elderly Armenian woman was attacked in Istanbul on August 17, Agos Turkish-Armenian daily said.

According to the daily, when opening the door to her apartment, the 80-year-old Margarit Camkosoglu was attacked from behind by a man.

“He was hitting my head against the floor, trying to kill me. My purse was on the table with only 70 TL in it. He grabbed it and ran away. I’ve been living here for 50 years and have never encountered such a situation,” the woman said.

In early 2013, an Istanbul-based Armenian Murat Nazarian was detained on charges of assaults on Armenian women. Nazarian, who was described by those who know him as a very calm person, unlikely to commit the crime, denied the charges.
