International Community Recognition of NKR Important to Armenia

PanARMENIAN.Net - Armenia is in a more favorable state, than Azerbaijan and the peace talks on the Nagorno Karabakh conflict are as they should be, Armenian NA Vice-Speaker, ARF Dashnaktsutyun Bureau member Vahan Hovhannisyan told journalists in Yerevan. In his words, if Azerbaijan «says even once it recognizes NKR people's right to self-determination, we can assume we achieved a success.»

Vahan Hovhannisyan remarked that along with the talks the matter of NKR recognition by the international community, first of all Armenia, will be on the foreground. «I do not speak of diplomatic recognition at the level of ambassadors and envoys, but the world should recognize the existence of Nagorno Karabakh as a sovereign state. I want to remind the US Department of Justice has registered the NKR Permanent Mission in Washington. If the State Department had done it, it would in fact mean recognition of the state,» he said.

At that the Vice-Speaker remarked Armenia turns back to look at Azerbaijan all the time. «That time is gone. If we turned back all the time, we would not have won the war and would have lost Karabakh,» he emphasized.
