REGIONAL COOPERATION CORE OF INTERNATIONAL SECURITY, IRANIAN AMBASSADOR TO ARMENIA CONSIDERS

Iranian ambassador to Armenia Mohammad Farhad Koleini told "Arminfo" agency it, when commenting on the possible development of Armenia's relations with NATO and their impact on the relations between Teheran and Yerevan. In his words, at present close cooperation between Armenia and Russia is observed. As a result the military equipment of Armenia, as well as the system of military training are brought to conformity with the Russian standards. The ambassador also noted that in comparison with other Caucasian countries Armenia had less actively participated in NATO regional programs. Speaking of the foreign policy priorities of Iran, the ambassador stated that his country intimately cooperated with Russia, too. This especially refers to questions relating to the situation in the Caucasian region. Simultaneously, Mohammad Koleini noted, Teheran actively cooperates with European states, which in his opinion, is a good tool for forming the regional system of security. The far foreign countries should show a constructive approach to relations with the countries of the region, the ambassador added.
