OSCE Minsk Group Co-chair: conflict escalation not the answerSeptember 7, 2015 - 11:50 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - The OSCE Minsk Group U.S. Co-chair James Warlick tweeted about the recent situation at the line of contact between Armenia and Azerbaijan. “There are credible reports both sides have used mortars recently resulting in civilian casualties. Escalation is not the answer,” he wrote. The Co-chair noted in a September 5 tweet that the OSCE condemns “the deliberate targeting of innocent civilians in the Nagorno Karabakh conflict. We stand for a negotiated settlement.” Warlick also shared a photo of a shell splinter, fired by Azerbaijan. “This is a 120mm mortar reportedly used in the Nagorno Karabakh conflict. Such escalation in unacceptable,” he tweeted. In an interview with Azerbaijani news agency APA on September 3, James Warlick stated that the Co-chairs plan to travel to the region, but failed to mention specific dates.
