Azerbaijan Occupied 1028 Square Kilometers of Karabakh Territory

PanARMENIAN.Net - The position of ARF Dashnaktsutyun over the issue of settlement of the Nagorno Karabakh conflict remains the same and is based on a few basic principles, which can underlie the talks, Chair of Parliament Standing Commission on Foreign Relations Armen Rustamyan stated at a news conference. In his words, the principle of people's right to self-determination without limitations underlies the ARFD stance. "Armenia's goal is to make everything for Azerbaijan and the international community to recognize that right. As you know, one cannot come to an agreement with Azerbaijan. This means we need to aim all our efforts to international organizations, as we do in case of promoting international recognition of the Armenian Genocide in 1915," he remarked.

In the opinion of the Chair of Parliament Commission, settlement of the conflict will become possible in case of clear security guarantees and definition of the NKR status. «Without specifying these position nothing can take place - either «return» of territories or refugees. I should again remind that the question of territories is of bilateral nature. The NKR has territorial claims to Azerbaijan, meaning the occupation of Shahumyan and part of Mardakert regions, which makes almost 20% of NKR territory, in 1992. The matter concerns 1028 square kilometers. Besides, when Azerbaijan speaks of 20% of territories, these are in fact 13%. Add to this the Artsvashen problem. Thus, the NKR has more claims,» Rustamyan underscored.
