Ankara dissatisfied with Armenian-Russian joint air defense system

PanARMENIAN.Net - The Turkish government has expressed concern over an agreement between Russia and Armenia to unify their air defense systems, Turkish Weekly reports.

A Turkish official speaking on condition of anonymity said Russia and Armenia needed to abstain from actions that would “jeopardize regional peace” in the Caucasus.

The official also said Ankara was in favor of continuing with the “good neighborly relationship in the Caucasus.”

Russia and Armenia have decided to unify their defense systems in order to strengthen their air frontiers in the Caucasus.

Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoygu and his Armenian counterpart, Seyran Ohanyan, signed an agreement on December 23 to form a joint air defense system in the Caucasus.
