Baku should cooperate with Karabakh over Sarsang Reservoir: officialJanuary 27, 2016 - 13:17 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - The PACE report “Inhabitants of Frontier Regions of Azerbaijan are Deliberately Deprived of Water” by Milica Markovic does not reflect the reality, the Nagorno Karabakh Deputy Prime Minister said in a Facebook post. In a vote of 70-66, the Parliamentary Asembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) on January 26 disapproved the anti-Armenian report “Escalation of violence in Nagorno Karabakh and other occupied territories of Azerbaijan” prepared by British parliamentarian Robert Walter from the PACE Committee on Political Affairs. The PACE, however, adopted another anti-Armenian report, “Inhabitants of Frontier Regions of Azerbaijan are Deliberately Deprived of Water” by Milica Markovic from Bosnia and Herzegovina, in a vote of 98-71. According to Artur Aghabekyan, the water from Sarsang Reservoir flows directly into Kura River. “Azeri authorities should not hide the truth from their own people behind PACE resolutions,” Aghabekyan stressed. “Instead, they should either set up pumping stations to deliver water to Azerbaijan, or cooperate with Karabakh authorities for a joint use of Sarsang Reservoir.” According to the Deputy Prime Minister, it is necessary to help Karabakh authorities build a $15 million worth waterline to supply the Sarsang resources to the regions of Martakert, Askeran and Martuni.
