Azerbaijan switched to economy mode in mid-2015: Minister![]() May 20, 2016 - 16:38 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - Since mid-2015, Azerbaijan has switched to economy mode, Finance Minister Samir Sharifov said Friday, May 20, according to local media reports. “The worsening external economic environment affected Azerbaijan's economic development,” said the minister. “This led to a decrease in the growth rate of the country's economy, a sharp reduction in foreign exchange earnings and in fact, brought the balance of payments surplus to zero.” Azerbaijani authorities report that they have already resettled 3,000 people in the Nagorno-Karabakh town of Stepanakert. On June 10, Azerbaijani President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev will leave for Turkey on a working visit. Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev arrived in Moscow on April 22 to hold talks with Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin.
