Borussia Dortmund rule out return for Man Utd's Henrikh MkhitaryanOctober 17, 2016 - 15:38 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - Borussia Dortmund CEO Hans-Joachim Watzke has insisted the Bundesliga club won’t be re-signing Manchester United winger Henrikh Mkhitaryan, The Express reports. Mkhitaryan left Dortmund to join Manchester United in a £27million deal in the summer, bringing an end to a three-year stint at the Westfalenstadion. However, the Armenia international has struggled with injuries and hasn’t featured since United’s 2-1 defeat to fierce rivals Manchester City last month. Dortmund have recently brought the likes of Nuri Sahin and Mario Gotze back to the club, while Shinji Kagawa returned in 2014 after struggling at United following a move in 2012. However, Watzke has insisted that Mkhitaryan won’t be returning - regardless of how he gets on. “No,” he said bluntly when asked whether the United winger could head back to the Bundesliga. "Any intelligent player should consider in advance what kind of environment they are moving to. “When you are playing in surroundings where things are working for you, like in Dortmund, then it is quite strange to give that away again once things have finally started to work out for you after a long time settling in." Watzke also leapt to the defence of Mkhitaryan’s agent Mino Raiola. Raiola brokered the player’s move to United in the summer but Watzke believes the decision to leave rested solely with the player. "In Mkhitaryan's case it was the player's decision,” he added, according to The Express. “Raiola is intelligent, and he's a brute. He has a certain business model, but we knew that already when we sat down because of Mkhitaryan. You know what you have with him. Raiola acted correctly." Mkhitaryan is finally fit again after missing United’s last six games through injury. He could feature in the clash against Liverpool where a win would move them to within three points of league leaders Arsenal and Manchester City.
