Sargsyan: I thank all those who supported me but I intend to be President for all citizens

PanARMENIAN.Net - The Republican Party of Armenia issued a statement on the February 19 presidential election.

The statement says, in part, "With 52,86 per cent of votes Serzh Sarsgyan was elected the President of Armenia, whose people chose democratic and economic progress. The election was fair and in line with international standards. Numerous observers from OSCE, CoE and PACE have already presented their positive assessment."

"The Armenian citizens have chosen peaceful and economically strong future for their country," Prime Minister Serzh Sargsyan said in his address. "I am proud to enlist support of the nation. I am thankful for all those who voted for me but I intend to be President for all citizens," he said.

"After announcement of preliminary results some opposition forces are trying to express displeasure by provoking violence. Each citizen of our country is entitled to express opinion. However, there is place for instability and violence in a democratic state," he said, adding that law enforcers will interfere in case of necessity only, IA Regnum reports.
