Saakashvili: Armenians have no problems either in Javakheti or in other regions of Georgia

PanARMENIAN.Net - Georgia's President Mikheil Saakashvili said that despite recent tensions, Javakheti has become "an ordinary Georgian region."

"I pity certain international organizations which gathered in Javakheti pending a conflict. 4 years have passed. Javakheti is an ordinary Georgian region. We do not divide our citizens into ethnic Georgians and ethnic Armenians. Now, people try to speak Georgian there. Children are taught Georgian in schools," he said.

"People living in Javakheti know that they are a part of Georgia. I grew up in a country where Georgians were a minority. So, all those who insult ethnic minorities are political and human ill-wishers," he emphasized.

Mr Saakashvili reminded that the Georgian parliament passed recently a law providing for 25% of air to broadcasts in the languages of ethnic minorities. "I am proud that Georgian television has programs in Abkhazian, Ossetian, Armenian and Azeri languages. Georgia's wealth is its variety," the President said, IA Regnum reports.
